The Matcha Journey

In 2019, we began searching for a healthy, delicious alternative to coffee. We stumbled upon matcha, a superfood packed with antioxidants and other beneficial properties. It quickly became clear: Not all matcha is the same.

Health Bar was born out of this realization and has since pursued the goal of offering high-quality matcha. Our journey began with the finest matcha, found on a family-run farm in the Uji region for generations.

Oishitaen: Tea cultivation in the shade

Shortly after new shoots emerge, the fields are covered, so the plants are almost completely protected from sunlight. This traditional method, which only a few farmers still use, increases chlorophyll production and increases the L-theanine content. This gives the tea its mild, smooth flavor and ensures a particularly premium quality.

Chatsumi: The Art of Harvesting

The first matcha harvest begins at the end of April and ends at the end of May. Only the best leaves from the first harvest distinguish Health Bar's premium matcha. Regular soil samples and laboratory tests for heavy metals and radiation exposure ensure consistently high quality. Health Bar products are also certified by the Japanese JONA seal and the German organic seal.
