The idea of PURE U was born when Carla, one of the two founders, began developing her own make-up - tailored to her sensitive skin and using only nourishing ingredients.
First she produced just for herself, then for her friends. In 2019, Leo joined the young founder. Together, they further developed and optimized their products in their own laboratory. The small team now benefits from Carla's experience and Leo and Carla's shared desire to bring about lasting change in the cosmetics industry with PURE U products and combine skincare and make-up.

Leo and Carla are the young founders of Pure U. Their passion for sustainable and nourishing cosmeticsthat care for the skin and protect the environment unites the founders of the young German start-up from Bielefeld.
In 2016, Carla developed a severe form of hormonal acne after stopping the pill. As a result, she began to focus intensively on the topics of skin, skincare and make-up. She wanted to understand her skin's needs and the development of blemishes in order to improve her complexion in the long term. Carla quickly realized how many questionable ingredients most make-up products contain. She also noticed that there are hardly any natural cosmetics brands that only produce make-up that cares for the skin.
